DHD and Farminform join forces to improve drug information in specialist medical care

DHD and Farminform are starting a collaboration to improve the availability and quality of medicines information in specialist medical care. The current data on medicines provided by or at the request of hospitals still contains gaps that make it difficult to gain a complete understanding of their use, availability and consumption.

Complete and reliable medicinal product information is important for, among other things, appropriate use, the evaluation of (new) medicinal products in practice and scientific research. In addition, up-to-date insight into hospital stocks and consumption is indispensable in order to be able to respond adequately to medicinal product shortages.

The programme is being set up in collaboration with the Dutch Association of Hospital Pharmacists (NVZA) and the National Medicines Coordination Centre (LCG), which are contributing their expertise to the design and implementation. Jennifer Korporaal-Heijman, hospital pharmacist, has been appointed as programme manager.

Through this collaboration, the parties involved aim to develop information products that optimally meet the needs of hospitals and contribute to data-driven healthcare improvement.

By signing the collaboration agreement, Gert-Jan van Boven (Managing Director of DHD), Klaas Nieuwhof (Director of DHD) and Luuk Renfurm (Managing Director of Farminform) mark the beginning of a promising and socially relevant collaboration for the coming years.
